Parktone's New Library

Two years in the making, our brand new, state of the art library was officially opened on May 19, 2023. Attended by the State Parliament member for Mordialloc, Tim Richardson, Tandem Design Studio architects and the Parktone leadership team, and Education Improvement Leader, Anna-Marie Yelland.

More than a library, the area also acts as a gallery, showcasing the student's incredible artwork. Different zones within the library allow for all aspects of teaching and learning, including maths, inquiry and writing, as well as comfortably accommodating more than one class at a time.

All who visit can enjoy the emu constellation built into the ceiling. This was one of the many indigenous inclusions in the library, paying tribute to the traditional custodians of the land, the Bunurong people, and connecting the space to country.

The collection of books is growing and now includes dedicated sections to graphic novels, manga, the classics, and fantasy. We are so excited to continue adding to the books and listen carefully to what the students want, as well as selecting literature they may not have explored before.

Our Book Fair also launched during the library opening and the generosity of our community was mind-blowing. So many books were donated which highlights just how committed we all are to developing a love of reading with our students.

We are very pround of Parktone's new library we are so lucky to have such a space for our students to thrive in. Thank you for all your generous donations, book-covering sessions, and overall support in helping our new library come together so perfectly.
